Week 8

pregnancy calendar

Happy two months of being around, Baby!
You are one inch long, your legs and arms have real joints, and your tail is disappearing!

Your Grandmama went shopping for your at Books-A-Million and got your future favorite book Pat the Bunny. Mommy bought a Belly Squeeze and some belly bars. Yay! Belly bars make Mommy's tummy happy because they have CHOCOLATE, but they make you healthy too because of the vitamins like folic acid and DHA that are in there.

Your Daddy is helping around the house right now since Mommy comes home and just wants to sleep. Pretty soon we'll all take naps at the same time. ^^

Speaking of naps, it's time for Mommy to settle in for a long Springtime's nap. Good night, Dear Baby!

Love,
Your Mommy

Foooood...?

Dear Baby,

Mommy knows you need lots of good food to help you grow. But it's hard, because Mommy's tummy has been so upset this week. Your Daddy has been making extra trips to the store for things like crackers, ginger tea, and other starchy foods to help settle Mommy's stomach so she can get the good vitamins to you.

Mommy's class is all excited, some think you will be born very soon, even though you won't be born until November. That's a long wait for an excited pair of parents, but you're worth it.

Mommy is going to go lay down and rest. We love you!

Week 7!

pregnancy calendar

This little Piggy went to market, this little Piggy stayed home...Ok, Baby, we know that we can't play with your toesies yet, but you're growing them! Mommy can't wait to get those little baby feet nice and clean and put little kisses on them!

You look like this:

Your little tail is starting to go away as your legs develop. You actually look kind of like a mini-alien right now! One awfully cute alien!

Mommy was sent home sick from work today- throwing up is NOT a good way to get you the vitamins you need! Thankfully there are only two more school days until a nice weekend with Daddy, Dede and Poppy M (who thinks he'd like to be called Peepaw, but Mommy says that's a silly name). Aunt Chris and Uncle Keith will be there too, you haven't met them before!

Did you know that you have a cousin? Yes, Uncle Keith has a son named Josh...but he's no baby. Josh was 21 when Uncle Keith married Aunt Chris. They live in Gainesville, which Mommy says she's sorry for, because Tallahassee is so much nicer! You're going to go to whatever college you want when you grow up, but Mommy and Daddy would be extra proud if you grew up to be a Seminole like us!

That is all for tonight, Dear Baby. We love you!

Sunday

Hello, Dear Baby!

I thought you might want to know what Mommy and Daddy are doing this week. Today is Sunday, so we went to church. Everyone was excited to know that you were in Mommy's tummy! =D We came home and Mommy was completely bushwhacked. There was quiet time with kitties.

Have I told you about our pets?
Stormy was our first kitty. Your Grandpa rescued him in a storm one night. He was smaller than Aunt Wendy's hand! He has an M on his forehead- because he's a Markham, just like you! He has a long stripedy tail, green and gold eyes, and a speckle-belly. He curls up next to Mommy when she's resting in the afternoons.
Jiji is our next cat. We rescued him from the pound for $8. What a deal! He has copper eyes and he is all black except for a silver spot on his belly.
Maera (or My-my as you'll probably call her) is a beagle. She's just a baby puppy right now, but when you are born she will be almost one year old. She has a brown face with a white tip on her nose and tri-color marks on her body. She is very cute...but she's a trouble maker! I'm sure you will get along splendidly.

The rest of this week Mommy and Daddy will be working, then we will get to see your DeDe and Poppy Markham on Saturday for a family dinner. They will be giving us lots of hugs because they haven't seen us since before we knew about you!

Mommy needs to go rest now. Growing a baby is tiring work! You are worth every minute. =)

Much love and kisses,
Your Mommy

Week Six, Already!

infant

Hello, Dear Baby!

You have already been in Mommy's tummy for six weeks. Of course, we didn't know until last week, so the first four or five went by super-fast.

What are you doing? You're growing faster and faster! You're 7-9 millimeters long. Your hands are beginning to form! And you still have a tail. That's right, a tail. It's going to be your spinal column one day. You kind of look like a mermaid/merman right now. Your eyes, nose, and ears are starting to form.

Mommy is working hard to walk a little bit more every day, which will help keep both of us healthy. Mommy's class is very excited to know that there's a baby in her tummy! They will get to see pictures of how you're growing each week. Also, Mommy's got her first doctor's visit on the schedule! At 2:15 on April 4th Mommy will get to hear your heart beat for the first time.

This is such an exciting time, Baby. We are so glad to know you are here.

Love,
Your Mommy

Sick Mama!

pregnancy

Oh, baby!
We're sick. You're safe for right now in your little hidey-hole of Mommy's womb, but Mommy is sneezing, coughing, and having a sad time in general. Mommy gets sick pretty easily these days, and she is determined to keep you safe from medicines that would make you grow slowly or hurt you. No drugs for Mommy, not even Tylenol unless we get a fever, because that could hurt you too.

Daddy is being such a helper! He's been cleaning around the house and making tea to help Mommy's throat. You will love him so much, he's going to be the best Daddy ever for you.

We have your nursery filled with baby things for you, thanks to friends (Sunny and Kerry, thank you!) and the Lamb of God thrift shop. Your crib came from one of Sunny's clients, as did lots of diapers. Mommy found your little bench where one day you will sit in the shade outside and read. Since Ms. Stacy is staying in our guest room right now your nursery is FILLED with all of the extra things from when Mommy and Daddy moved into the house, but don't worry. We will get your space cleaned out and make it beautiful for you!
Noah's Ark is the theme of your room, which is a great beginning to tell you about how God keeps his promises. Plus, I get to put rainbows in your room and it doesn't matter if you're a girl or boy. We won't know your gender until a long time from now, when you're about 18 weeks old. We've still got 12 and a half weeks for that!

Don't worry, Mommy won't rush you. Take the time you need to grow. Mommy is drinking orange juice every morning to help your brain grow smart and healthy. Daddy is helping too- he makes yummy breakfasts with protein and fruit like breakfast quesadillas with strawberries on the side and blueberry pancakes. Mommy is eating right, making sure that only healthy foods make their way to you.

We will keep praying for you. We love you.

New Beginnings....

pregnancy

Hello, world!
Hello, baby!
I'm glad to introduce you. Baby M is growing inside of me and I am proud to say I will be his/her Mommy.

Sweet Baby,
We only just found out that we would be your parents YESTERDAY! Daddy M and I are so excited! We've been trying for six months just to have you! We are happy to know that you are here. =D

A little about Mommy and Daddy: we met at college in the Japanese Animation Club of Tallahassee. Say that five times fast! We fell in love and were married on May 1, 2004. We both love Jesus and are happy to teach you about him. Mommy is 27 and Daddy is 30.
We wanted things to be just right for you, so we waited for six years before trying to have you. Your Grandmama and Grandpa R were so glad to hear that you were coming-- your Grandmama kissed you on Mommy's tummy tonight. Your Dede and Poppy M are just as happy, but they live 45 minutes away. We will see them in a few weeks and can tell them ALL about you!

Right now you're smaller than a grain of rice. That's pretty tiny! Your body is starting to form, too. King David said "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb." That's so true, and it's so amazing to know that it's happening right now!
God is good to us. We pray that he blesses you with healthy growth as he knits you.

Love,
Your Mommy
